Solar Installations

Solar Installations for Demonstration and Education

Between 2004 and 2009,120 schools received a 1-kilowatt photovoltaic system that converts sunlight into electric power. Included in the package is an online monitoring tool that provides real-time data on the system’s activity and the amount of electricity generated.

These schools also receive the specialized curriculum package funded through the program, teacher training, and were eligible to receive a “Bright Ideas Grants”.

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) coordinates installation and trouble-shooting for the installations.

If you have questions about the application or the installation, please contact Glen Kizer at glen@learnenergy.org.

Schools and PV Data

Across the nation, NEED schools are exchanging information about their solar installations and doing research projects together.  The PG&E Solar Schools Program brings together solar installations and data acquisition technologies that will allow the PG&E Solar Schools to collect electricity production data and weather data to use in research and analysis activities in class.

To view a school's data, select from the list of names on the left or click on the school's yellow map pin.
Clicking on "view details" will take you to the school's dedicated page.
On that page, click on "Show Solar Data" link. View PG&E Solar Schools Map Data
